Abdulrahim Younes is a Kurdish animation artist and director from Syria with more than twenty years of experience in animation and visual storytelling. He began his professional journey in animation in early 2004 and has since contributed to the creation and production of high-quality animated content for television, film, and digital media.
He worked at one of Syria’s leading animation studios, Star Animation (Al-Najm Artistic Production), where he held several key positions, including Head of the 3D Department and later Motion Capture Department Manager. During his time there, he also delivered training sessions and lectures, mentoring new artists and animation trainees.
In 2008, he joined the renowned NewBoy company as part of the 3D department, where he contributed to the development of Fulla, one of the most well-known animated characters in the Arab world. He also collaborated with Sama Dubai TV on the popular character Modhesh, and worked on the iconic Majid character for Majid Magazine in Saudi Arabia.
Alongside his professional work, Abdulrahim taught animation software at several educational institutions in Syria, including Al-Maamoun International Center, the Syrian International Academy, and the Global Management Center, specializing in Autodesk Maya and Softimage.
In 2013, he joined KurdMax TV in Erbil, where he created the channel’s main logo, on-air branding, interstitials, and promotional songs. He also designed the main logo and on-air graphics for ZARO TV, the official governmental children’s channel in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
During the last seven years, he worked with Al Sharqiya TV, one of Iraq’s leading television networks, serving as Head of the Graphics Department and overseeing the channel’s visual identity and broadcast graphics.
In Germany, Abdulrahim worked with Radio Bremen Television, and later in Mainz with ZDF, in addition to collaborating with several well-established German production companies.
Most recently, he served as Head of the Jury for the Animation Films Category at the Afaaq International Film Festival, reflecting his recognized expertise and standing in the field of animation.
